Training OpportunitiesThe Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF) provides onsite and self-study training, which is available to adoptive families. We have many adoption specific books, videos and self-study materials that you can use to learn on your own. The quarterly ACRF Training Tracks newsletter is available to you and it gives notice of upcoming trainings and new lending materials, and feature important information for foster and adoptive families. Quarterly training and independent learning materials are also located on the ACRF Calendar of Events web page and self-study web page. Strengthening Families Through AdoptionThis is an adoptive family training series that is offered onsite in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Mat-Su. Adoptive families learn about triad relationships, the importance of birth family, transracial adoption and core issues in adoption. The Adoption and Guardianship Self-Study Workbook is available from our self-study library. It covers topics such as, the State of Alaska Child protection system, permanency through adoption and guardianship; the home study process; special needs children and legal risk placement; open or closed adoptions; core issues in adoption; maintaining connections to culture and family; and the State of Alaska adoption and guardianship subsidy program.
