INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS COURSE

(NOTE: You may wish to print this page for further reference.)

1. This course allows you to go at your own pace. To learn the most from this course, read all Three Lessons, and complete all Activities and Review questions. When you have completed the course, take the questionnaire at the end of the course and submit to the Alaska Center for Resource Families for credit.

2. This course should take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete. If you need to take a break between sessions, bookmark your page so you will be able to return directly to that page instead of starting the course over. The Bookmark function is located in the menu of your browser at the top of the page. Links to each Lesson are also located in topside menu on each page.

3. Printing out the Lessons: Some people find it easier to print out each lesson and read it on paper. On the first page of each lesson, there is a button in the left hand corner that says Print Lesson. This will open up a file of the written part of the lesson that is formatted to print easily. Remember to do this for each Lesson. However, some activities in the course will still need to be access on-line and the final questionnaire also needs to be taken online. You may also print out the final questionnaire, complete it and mail it the Alaska Center for Resource Families for scoring.

3. Look for these graphics:

Complete all Activities as part of the course. Activities involve either doing a writing activity on your own, reading a short article, or participating in a problem solving example.

You may need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open up several of the articles. This software is available on the internet at no charge by going to Adobe Acrobat.

You may also need to turn off your "Pop Up Blocker" command on your computer in order to access some of the interactive activities. You can do this through the Tools Command on the menu at the top of your browser.

This graphic indicates an interesting link to visit for more information. It is not required to complete the course or pass the final questionnaire but will further your knowledge of this topic.

At the end of each Lesson is a Lesson Review. This activity is a chance to review what you learned in this lesson by answering some review questions. These review questions help you remember the information and be more successful on the final questionnaire.

4. For Alaskan resource families only: if you wish to earn training credit hours for completing this course, complete the "Check Your Understanding" Questionnaire at the end of Lesson 3 and Click Submit.
