Adolescents and Independent Living Skills

The Ansell Casey Life Skills Assessment (ACLSA) is a tool used by the State of Alaska Children’s Services to assess and monitor life skills. This assessment is required for all youth who are in foster care and over 14 years old or older. The ACLSA must be completed before independent living funds can be accessed, and both foster youth and a caregiver fill out a version. To get a brochure explaining how to complete the assessment, CLICK HERE for the ACLSA Brochure written by Alaska Foster Parent Training Center.

Interested in what the State of Alaska Office of Children's Services has to offer foster youth who are turning 18 years of age in care? There are lots of opportunities including special funds, a Independent Living Skills camp and University of Alaska scholarships. Check out the latest at the OCS Independent Living Skills Program.
