Connecting while Correcting in Ketchikan – Community Connections; 721 Stedman Street

Many of the chronic behaviors we try to change in foster and adopted children come from a place of stress and / or fear.  If our reaction to that behavior tends to increase the stress – rather than calm the child – we will not be successful in decreasing the behavior.  In fact we will probably make the situation worse.  Learn an approach that will allow you to respond in ways that do not increase the stress the child feels, an approach that will calm the situation and help you to connect in a meaningful way with the child in your care, and will lead to lasting change in her or his behavior.
