Autism 101

Autism 101 presented by Alaska Autism Resource Center

This session will introduce participants to the autism spectrum, and provide appropriate interventions to use when supporting individuals with autism. Goals/objectives participants will gain from attending: Participants will be able to-
            *Identify characteristics of autism
             *List early indicators of ASD
             *Understand how ASD affect behavior
             *Identify basic supports to use with people with autism
The Alaska Early Learning Guidelines (ELG) the training addresses: 

Children trust and interact comfortably with familiar adults
Establishes an attachment or bond with a consistent adult other than the primary caregiver
Responds appropriately to adults’ verbal greetings
Children develop friendships with peers
Plays side-by-side with another child, at times
Observes and imitates another child’s behavior or activity
